Bringing a World of Arts to Our Community
We are promoting and offering arts-based programs by collaborating with others and using resources that already exist in our area. We work to develop a vibrant arts community for everyone . Take a tour below to discover key areas of focus and how they impact our community.
Increased Access to the Arts in Our Region
We are bringing a world of arts to our community with visual and performing artists and artisans taking centre stage and providing arts education. We have the flexibility and social knowledge to respond to local needs and provide ongoing access for our citizens to arts programs that are custom-designed for us. Children, youth and adults are participating in a range of programs that offer experiential learning, entertainment and social vibrancy while they encounter the many joys and benefits of the arts.
Local Knowledge and Mentorship
Our community is home to many skilled artists and artisans. In our workshops, they share their knowledge and experience with citizens in our local community in programs that are affordable and . . . no need to travel far. Participants acquire new knowledge and social experience while local artists and artisans have the opportunity to work in their areas of expertise.
Child and Youth Programming
Child and youth programs bring a wide range of benefits to children, youth, families, and our community whether afterschool, PD-day, March break or a summer camp. We’ll offer theatre, dance, music, visual art, seasonal outdoor activities, day camps and more. Children and youth spend time learning and socializing in a safe, inclusive common space that’s close to home. In the arts environment, they gain support for social, emotional, cognitive and academic development, self-confidence, promotion of physical and mental health, community building within their peer group and so much more. Our programs give our kids of today - and tomorrow - an appreciation for the arts and a place to call home. At our centre, they’ll grow in so many creative ways as they go through to adulthood, to become mentors for the next generation!
Resource for Local Organizations, Clubs and Services
In our local area, there are several arts-based organizations and services. In our future vision, we will collaborate with them to support and expand their program offerings. We will support organizations to stage events in music, dance or theatre, as well as offer educational workshops and classes to our community. They will have access to box office and registration services, marketing expertise, social networks, on-site food and beverage services, maker spaces, sound studio, rehearsal facilities, auditorium, gallery, indoor and outdoor venues. We will collaborate with local organizations to help them share the arts with our community and visitors from anywhere. Organizations will be able to host local, regional, provincial, national and even international events.
A Community Wellbeing Hub
Participation in the arts goes hand-in-hand with individual and community wellbeing. There is a very positive and proven connection between arts and mental/physical health. As a compliment to our core arts programming, we prioritize a healthy environment at the centre both in the facility and operations. We promote a creative, social and active lifestyle that is reflected in everything we do. We offer a hub where citizens can gather to connect with each other and form social bonds that contribute to the wellbeing of everyone.
Contribution to Economic Growth
In the future, our activities will generate economic spin-off in a multitude of ways. Operational needs will require full-time, part-time and casual workers in various roles. In keeping with our priority on local support and sustainability, we will, whenever possible, purchase local building materials, equipment, supplies, groceries, trade services and more. We will attract participants and event-attendees from outside of our community who will purchase tickets, register for programs, shop here, stay overnight in our local hospitality businesses and even relocate to our community because we have a vibrant arts scene with so much to offer their families.
